Alfred George Law Samson

The post about the arms of the Grand Antiquity Society of Glasgow provoked a comment by one of the great heraldic artists of today, Andrew Jamieson, that he thought the quality of painting at the Lyon Court in the 1920s and 1930s was "wonderfully romantic" in style. Of course, I agree completely and I assume the arms were painted by Alfred George Law Samson, who was Herald Painter from 1927 until his death in 1943.

Here is a stupendous painting from the Lyon Records of the Arms of the Glasgow Company of Fishmongers, dating from 1929 and presumably also by Alfred Samson:
